Free Books, Etc.

In yesterday’s post I mentioned that I get free books in exchange for reviewing them on my blog. If you are interested, here are some links. (I posted these a while back on the old blog, but two of the links have already changed.)

My favorite program is through Reformation Trust. You can request any of their books by sending an email. They will then send you an email with a pdf copy of the book attached. Once you have finished the book and posted your review, they will send you the book. See “Blog for a free book from Reformation Trust Publishing.” This is how I read The Masculine Mandate a month before its release.

Thomas Nelson has a similar program, but they send you the book upfront. Only certain books are available for review, but these change often. There will even be an occasional  Bible or DVD available. I’m expecting the new children’s DVD from Max Lucado to arrive any day.

Register to review books for Waterbrook Multnomah here. They will email you with an invitation to review certain new releases. Next week I plan to post a review of Joshua Harris’s newest book, Dug Down Deep, which I received through this program.

I’m sure that there are more programs, but these are the three that I have used.

You might also be interested in the Monergism Books Affiliate Program. When someone purchases books from Monergism after getting there through your Monergism banner (like the one in my sidebar), you earn credit. Thanks, by the way, to whoever bought over $100.00 worth of books on eschatology back in October. That purchase alone was enough for me to get the newest Martyn Lloyd-Jones book.

A word of caution. Being able to get free books is tempting. But be selective. The time that you’ll spend reading your free books is more valuable than the money you would have spent to buy them. And remember to save time for reading the classics. It’s probably more edifying to re-read that Jonathan Edwards book than the newest release from whoever. And above all, spend most of your reading time in the Bible.
