A Trip to the Countryside

Last Saturday my dad and I had the rare opportunity to spend the day together. And what a day it was. Instead of playing a round of golf, going fishing, or watching the game on TV (whatever game that was), we went to the 2010 Sola Conference at Countryside Bible Church in Southlake.
Countryside hosts an excellent conference each year. Two years ago they had Dr. Mohler, John MacArthur, and Phil Johnson. Last year we were priviledged to sit under the preaching of Steven Lawson and James White. This year we heard Rev. Richard Phillips and Dr. Russell Moore. Dr. John Hannah was there on Sunday, but we at our own churches and missed him.
I’ve been reading books by Rev. Phillips, pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC,  so I was excited to meet and hear him. And I was not disappointed. You can listen to the great sermon he delivered here.
After a short break, Dr. Russell Moore (Dean of theology at Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville) preached. You can listen to his powerful sermon here.
Many thanks to the people at Countryside Bible Church for hosting these terrific (and free) conferences. Not only did they feed our spirits with great preaching, but they also fed our bodies with Krispy Kreme Donuts and coffee.
